How to Get a Medical Marijuana Card in Cabin John Maryland

Maryland Medical Marijuana Certification Process

Register with the State For Your MMCC Card

To get started, you must first register with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC). The MMCC is responsible for verifying Maryland state residency and issuing medical cannabis IDs.

What you’ll need to register:

  • Registration fee ($25 payable by card only)
  • Valid email address
  • Photo ID
  • If your address has recently changed, you will also need to provide two proofs of address.

Once your registration has been processed, the MMCC will send an approval email. This email will also contain an MMCC identification number, which will be important in the next step.

Consult with a Certifying Health Provider that can get you certified for your MMCC Card.

The second step is to consult with a certifying health provider. This is our specialty at Mt Washington Cannabis Docs! A medical cannabis consultation is much like a doctors visit. Our licensed certified nurse practitioners consult with and certify patients.

What you’ll need to get certified:

  • Certification fee (see our pricing & schedule an appointment)
    Photo ID
    Medical documentation (optional but preferred)
Your MMCC identification number issued by the MMCC

Once you have been certified, the MMCC will mail your medical cannabis ID card. In the meantime, you may visit a dispensary with your MMCC Certification or a temporary ID card (printable from your MMCC patient portal).

Visit A Dispensary

The final step is to visit a dispensary. Once you have obtained both your registration and certification, you can now shop at local dispensaries.

It is important to note that medical cannabis treatment is a personalized journey. Medical cannabis patients have the freedom to tailor their medicines in a unique way. We recommend brushing up on some cannabis basics before your first visit to a dispensary.

Here’s what you’ll need on your first visit to a dispensary:

  • Photo ID
  • MMCC ID card or MMCC Certification

Qualifying Conditions

Some of the more common medical conditions that Maryland patients have been qualifying for include symptoms like anxiety, depression, chronic pain, PTSD, and cancer. However, any condition that a doctor determines can be successfully treated by medical marijuana can qualify.

Medical Documentation

Documentation is not required. However, if you have proof of a chronic medical condition such as prior medical records then we encourage you to provide them to your doctor to enable them to prescribe more accurate amounts and concentrations.

Evaluation

A doctor licensed by the MMCC will evaluate your health and condition, previous medical records and other factors to get you approved quickly. Once approved you can be certified immediately or if you have not registered with the MMCC we can walk you through the process and help you get registered.

About Cabin John, MD

Cabin John is a census-designated place and an unincorporated area in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. Its original southern boundary encompassed a section of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal (C&O) including locks 8–12, and the northern shore of the Potomac River. It is also the access point to Plummers Island, originally owned by The Washington Biologists’ Field Club and called “the most thoroughly studied island in North America.” Cabin John is the location of the Union Arch Bridge built between 1857 and 1864; at the time of its completion, the bridge embodied the longest single-span masonry arch in the world and remains the longest in the United States. == History == Early land records in 1715 cite Captain John's Run, now Cabin John Creek. The toponym "Cabin John" is thought to be a corruption of the name "Captain John", but the origin of the name remains unresolved. Immediately adjacent to the west end of the Union Arch Bridge, overlooking the river, was the historic Cabin John Bridge Hotel. Originally a refreshment stand and boarding house for bridge workers, it grew into "a sumptuous establishment frequented by the most powerful politicians and important social figures of Washington, D.C." In its heydays of the 1890s to early 1900s, "the hotel was so lavish and became so important a destination for Washingtonians that The Washington Post reported about it regularly."Bordering Cabin John to the west is Carderock, Maryland where in 1936–1939 the Navy built the David Taylor Model Basin, one of the largest test facilities for ship design in the world. The test basin facility was originally planned for Cabin John, but instead the original 19.27 acre site, bought from Mary Ellen Bobinger, widow of the owner of the Cabin John Hotel, was used to build housing for workmen. "The Navy had 125 homes constructed… 100 for white workers and 25 for black." The homes were in two small neighborhoods, Cabin John Gardens, off MacArthur Blvd, and Carver Road, off Seven Locks Road. The Cabin John Gardens homes were constructed on the site of the former hotel and sold by the government to employees, with the land itself held as a cooperative—the only single-family development of its kind in the county.
